Gerard Corbett
A talented multi-instrumentalist and singer, Gerard has been performing professionally on the Irish American scene since the age of 19. Gerard's musical talent became evident at a very early age when he began singing at family parties and school plays. He was born one of eleven children into a family with strong Irish roots. Gerard began his professional career with fellow band mate Bill Brennan in a band called "Ballybay". Four years later, Gerard and Bill went on to form the "2nd Generation" Band. Among his many talents, Gerard plays the keyboard, guitar, button accordion, harmonica and virtually any other instrument he can get his hands on. Gerard is also well known for his fine tenor voice. He has been singing Irish and American songs for as long as he can remember. In 1999 Gerard released his first solo CD entitled "A Son's Tribute" which features the hit "If You Love Me" which he sings with Susan Gillespie. His CD has received substantial airplay on Irish Radio stations throughout the country as well as in Ireland. Also in 1999, the "2nd Generation" merged with the "Susan Gillespie Band". This was truly a marriage made in heaven. Since the merger, they have taken the Irish American scene by storm performing with such well known artists as Paddy Reilly, Frank Patterson, "Mac & O", and Andy Cooney and Tony Kenny's "Cruise of the Irish Stars". Today their repertoire consists of hundreds of songs ranging from Irish, Country, Rock and Roll, Big Band, Oldies, Holidays, Spiritual and Contemporary. This, coupled with Susan's extraordinary charm, notable comedic style, and ability to work an audience have made for an outstandingly dynamic and energetic combination.
